Know Your Consumer Unit
The Consumer unit… Fuseboard… Electric box… Fusebox - There are many, many names for the board in the cupboard that powers your home!
But do you really know anything about it? Or enough at least which circuit is for what?
The Consumer unit houses the circuit breakers that power things like sockets, lights & appliances. When one of these trips you could find yourself in the dark or in a panic over what to do with the Frozen goods.
Making sure your Consumer unit is clearly labelled is the first step in making sure when something does happen you can track thr problem down quickly. (It can also save you a few quid when the Electrician is called out!)
Here is a list of what every house hold should have in place for emergencies:
• Make sure all circuit breakers and labelled clearly
• Keep a torch near your electrical panel (Make sure there are spare batteries just incase!)
• Know how to shut off main power in emergencies
• Keep our emergency contact information handy
Emergency Kit Essentials:
• Battery-powered torch
• Spare fuses (if applicable)
• Emergency contact numbers
• Basic electrical safety knowledge
