Term’s & Condition’s

Making sure we agree on the basics is important

1. Estimates are based on the information provided by the client and will include labour & Materials (if we are supplying them). Parking is charged at the local rate and added to the final invoice along with any congestion charge. Once the work commences the engineers may need to make adjustments to the estimated price depending on what they  find as they carry out the work. i.e. if more time is needed or extra materials are required. In this case, an engineer will notify the client before any additional work is carried out. We would advise that with most work there may be some damage to walls, ceilings etc, which will need to be rectified by the client or their chosen decorator.

2.  All estimates & Invoices will show VAT totals. A deposit of 40-50% will be requested on all estimates over £500, which must be paid in advance of the start of work. Work that is over £2000 will be split into three payments, Deposit, Midway payment and final payment. Payment is to be made upon completion of the work; this can be made via card  or bank transfer for invoices with the value of  less than £500.00 OR bank transfer only for payments over £500. We do not accept cheques.

3. Price work is priced on the work involved at the time of estimate and not on the length of time. We would allow our engineers the maximum time we think they may need to complete the items on the estimate when booking the work in. In some cases we might finish the work sooner, for example if we put more than one engineer on the job. So if we book one full day and the work actually takes half a day with two engineers this will not reduce the price of the final invoice. The invoices are thoroughly checked with the engineers before sending  to ensure that any relevant reductions are made; e.g: if we quoted an hour to fault find but it took only half an hour, then this will be amended accordingly. If we find additional work as we go along we will notify the customer and discuss any additional costs.

4. Please ensure that you are at the property on the day of the booking. You will need to check the work with the engineer at the end of the visit to confirm everything has been done and you are up to date with progress before they leave. We do everything we can to ensure a smooth and efficient service is given to all of our clients and will not accept complaints of service after the work is complete, if you were not present at the property.
Residents/tenants must ensure that any issues arising from the work carried out are reported within 24 hours. We do not hold liability for personal belongings in any properties if not moved or checked by the owners/tenants prior to or during work.

5. Any invoices that are issued must be paid within the time period noted on the invoice. Any part of the invoice that remains unpaid will incur a charge of £100+VAT per month until the invoice is paid or the customer shall be liable to pay all costs, fees, disbursements and charges including legal fees and costs reasonably incurred by the client in the recovery of any unpaid invoices regardless of the value of the claim.
5a) We can only carry out work that is agreed with the owner of the property. If you are not the owner of the property it is your responsibility to provide us with the owner / bill payers name, address, telephone number and email. We will need permission from the landlord / Owner before we carry out any work. If you do not disclose this information you: the tenant / person who books in the work, will be liable for the invoice for any work carried out.  If we do not get confirmation from the Landlord / Owner the booking may be canceled.

6 .EICR & PAT TESTING - We try to issue all certificates relating to testing work within 7 working days of payment being received. Certificates can be issued sooner upon request depending on payment. Notifications to building control are made via the online service on your behalf. Please bear in mind that due to the increase in demand for testing due to the changes in the letting regulations, we can not guarantee that we can; 1. Get the certificates to you within the time frame mentioned above. 2. Get any certificates to estate agents by the next day. 3. Send out Estimates for remedial work straight away. We are a small company and we hope you will bear with us while we process the paperwork. We test thoroughly at 50% per circuit, there is likely to be some damage around fixtures that need to be opened in order to carry out the testing. This will need to be touched up by the client.

7. Our work is guaranteed for 12 months only in respect of work directly undertaken by the company & where payment in full has been made. Any non-related faults arising from recommended work that has not been undertaken by the company will not be guaranteed. The company shall not be held liable or responsible for any damage or
defect resulting from work not fully guaranteed or where recommended work has not
been carried out. Materials supplied by us will also be covered for 12 months. Parts will not be exchanged if damage is caused by the client.

8. If you require further work to be carried out after the quoted work is complete, you must settle the current invoice before any additional work can be carried out.

9. Parking is either to be provided by the client or will be charged at the local daily rate. Currently the parking for all of our vehicles is subject to diesel charges. Clients are also liable to pay congestion charges at the current rate, if the property is within the congestion charging zone.

10. Estimated arrival time slots are given when bookings are confirmed. You will usually be given an hourly time slot  e.g: 9/10am or 12/1pm depending on the other bookings in the diary and traffic. If an engineer is going to be late, we will notify you as soon as possible to arrange the next available time slot. If you cancel within the 24-hour period before your time slot, you will be charged a call out fee that will be included in your estimate.

11. It is the clients’ responsibility to ensure any furniture and valuables are removed from the area that the work is being carried out. We do not take any responsibility for any damages or loss in the property.

12. Pricing is set depending on location and the job itself. Half days are charged for up to 4 hours, day rate covers from 4 hours up to 8 hours.

13. We do not tolerate any abuse towards our staff and we reserve the right to refuse or cancel any estimate, booking or job should our staff not be treated correctly. If we have started the work and the engineer feels abused in any way we will discontinue working and send you the invoice for the work completed up until that point. The client will need to source another company to continue with the work. We will always leave the job in a safe and tidy manner.

14. Estimates are valid for 3 Months, any changes made by the client when the work is carried out may be subject to additional fees. We may need to re-estimate the work and re-issue the estimate if it goes over the 3 month time period.

15. Our prices are determined based on the job. No two jobs are the same. We always try to offer the lowest price possible. All of our engineers are highly trained and friendly. If you have any queries, complaints or additional work you would like completed,  please contact the office directly. The engineers are only there to carry out the work delegated to them by us and may not have the correct answers to your questions.  Engineers can not access the diary to make bookings. When the engineers are at your property please where possible leave them to get on with the work so that they can get it done in the allocated time. Although we try to make sure the engineers are fully prepared for each job, it is not always possible to predict what materials are required, until work commences. Time spent sourcing materials on the day of the booking is charged at our local rate as part of the job.

16. We can not give any timings for fault finding work. If the customer feels the work is taking too long or is approaching their maximum budget, they must let the engineer know immediately so they can make the work safe and advise the office that they are leaving the property.

17. All materials ordered by us are subject to a 30% Markup.

18. Any keys given to us for access purposes must be clearly labelled. We are happy to collect keys from letting agents etc, however: if you require them back immediately you may need to collect them from us as the engineers have a full schedule. We always do our best to return the keys in good time.  Please note in the event that keys are lost, we will pay for a replacement set. We will only pay for the keys to the property itself and not additional keys on the ring that are for cupboards, doors and windows irrelevant to our work . If there are only one set of keys for the property the client or letting agent must meet us at the property to allow entry & to lock up. We will not take responsibility for any set of keys that can not be copied, such as various multi-lock keys.
